Test-Tube Baby

We will try to explain the treatment method you know as in vitro fertilization, as it is a very detailed subject. Evaluation of the infertile couple, gynecological and urological examinations, selection and planning of the treatment method, Developing the eggs by stimulating with drugs (Ovulation induction) Egg collection under anesthesia (OPU Procedure), Fertilization of the egg with sperm (ICSI), Embryo transfer

Current Techniques in IVF;

Assisted Hatching It is the process of thinning the surrounding membrane by grinding to facilitate the attachment of the embryo to be transferred to the inner wall of the uterus. It has been scientifically proven to increase the implantation rate.

PGD (Preimplantation Genetic Diagnosis);

It is the process of removing genetic defects of embryos by biopsies performed on the third or fifth day of their development. In couples who are carriers of a known genetic disease, recurrent miscarriages, recurrent in vitro fertilization failures, determination of the tissue type (HLA Determination) of the embryo that will be the savior of the sibling with blood disease is applied for reasons such as advanced female age. Thanks to this process, it is aimed to increase the live birth rate by determining the embryos with healthy chromosome structure.

COCULTURE (Artificial Uterus);

It is the placing of the cells taken from the uterus of the mother candidates to the environment in which the embryos are in during their development. In this method, before the IVF treatment, the sample taken from the uterus of the expectant mother is cultured and the endometrial cells are multiplied. Embryos formed after in vitro fertilization procedures in the following period are developed in this culture medium. In this way, the uterus and the embryo meet early. It was observed that pregnancy success increased in selected cases.

SPERM SELECTION by IMSI and DOUBLE REFRACTION METHOD;

These methods provide more image magnification than the microscopes used in the ICSI method, allowing a clearer evaluation of sperm count. Thus, a better evaluation is provided when choosing the sperm to be used. It reduces genetic anomalies by enabling the selection of higher quality sperm in severe male infertility cases.

HYSTEROSCOPY AND LAPAROSCOPY;

In hysteroscopy, which is the process of reaching the uterus through the vagina and viewing it with a light camera system, problems such as structural defects of the uterus (curtain, double uterus), fibroids, polyps, adhesions can be detected and treated at the same time. If the problem detected before the IVF procedure originates from the uterus or if recurrent IVF failure is diagnosed, performing hysteroscopy increases the success of pregnancy. Laparoscopy is the process of imaging the inside of the abdomen with a light camera system. Surgical treatment of ovarian cysts, opening of adhesions due to previous surgeries, surgical treatment of fibroids located outside the uterus and evaluation of tubes are performed with this method. It has been scientifically proven that removal of the tubes by laparoscopic method increases pregnancy success in the case of hydrosalpenx, which negatively affects the success of IVF and where the tubes are filled with liquid.

EMBRYO FREEZING, STORAGE and FROSTING;

Embryos can be frozen in liquid nitrogen at -196 degrees with special methods during the period between the second day and the fifth day of their development. Generally, freezing is performed in the presence of more embryos than the number of embryos to be transferred. Embryos that are left over from the transfer and are of good quality are then frozen for use in case of sibling request or in case of treatment failure. In IVF treatment, the case of fluid collection in the body of the mother by over-stimulating the ovaries is called “ovarian hyperstimulation”, shortly OHSS. In order to prevent OHSS in modern egg development methods, embryos are frozen and stored for later transfer. Safe freezing and thawing techniques for embryos reduce the risk of this problem occurring.
